Disciplina – the first blockchain connecting students & educators

The team at Disciplina is building a platform that will “motivate people towards a lifelong educational process, which is not limited by school or university education.”

Prior to blockchain, the team has worked on a traditional project, an educational platform, TeachMePlease. The idea for the TeachMePlease project was conceived in 2015. In 2016, the public working version of the website was launched. Today there are around 20,000 educational courses created on the TeachMePlease platform.

Presently, the team, in partnership with Serokell, an international distributed systems developer, is moving TeachMePlease onto blockchain. Disciplina, a new blockchain platform, will ensure the transparency of TeachMePlease and provide the conditions to maintain confidentiality and authenticity of the information entered by system members.

Disciplina isn’t the only project that is creating a system for storing educational records in a public ledger. Sony has recently unveiled a digital platform for keeping educational data on a centralized ledger, to be shared between major offline institutions. But unlike others, Disciplina wants to take a more general approach by uniting the records of universities, small colleges, online educational platforms, and schools on its decentralized ledger system.

Disciplina’s architecture will be divided into the public and private blockchains. Institutions on the platform will use their own private chain, while the blocks will be verified by special entities within the blockchain network – witnesses. They generate the public ledger and agree on the validity of transactions using specified consensus rules.

Students will be able to find classes, manage their educational process with a calendar service, and communicate with other students and teachers. Educators will be offered an access to course creation tools, pricing, access to academic history of students, and assignment of teachers to particular courses.

Currently, the team is running a pre-sale campaign. Registration is open. The contributions are accepted in BTC and ETH at a token rate of 0.0005 ETH.

The launch of the project is slated for July, 2018.
