Dutch Aimedis Healthcare Platform Now Accepts Cryptocurrencies

One of the areas the blockchain technology can have a positive impact is collaboration between doctors and patients’ records.

An innovative Dutch start-up working this area of the healthcare industry has built a platform that allows easy collaboration, communication and records keeping of patient’s data.

Aimedis is a Dutch company on the frontier of e-health R&D operating in more than 20 hospitals in 3 countries with more than 10,000 patients.

On July 30, Aimedis announced it started to accept cryptocurrencies including our Aimedis token (AIM) for payments of all medical services available on this site. For now, they accept Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).

With the move the startup apparently hopes to attract more patients to their doors.

Improved security and privacy of patient data

In 2018, the company decided to bring together blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) to produce an eHealth platform, one that gives patients a whole new way to interact with doctors on a wide range of topics.

The AI-based platform using the power of the blockchain technology and smart contracts allows patients and institutions to safely store and share health information, such as diagnoses, x-rays, blood screens etc. and use services like arranging video consultations or getting prescriptions for drugs online. This mode of communication improves communication between patients and doctors since video chats are secure and anonymous thanks to the blockchain technology.

On the Aimedis platform, users can store, secure, and share their medical information only with the people they want to share it with by using the Aimedis right management system.

Aimedis will also allow patients to keep or even sell the data stored on the working platform supported by the blockchain.

Aimedis V2

In 2018, Aimedis run their ICO to fund the project, and in the Q4 2019, the team launched Aimedis V2.

The Aimedis platform is built on the security infrastructure of the AIMchain. The platform is ISO 27001 certified for optimal safety and security audits are carried our regularly.

Part of the Aimedis V2 platform, is AIMsocial — the first decentralized and incentivized medical social network. AIMsocial revolutionizes the way patients communicate and restore optimal health. AIM will give patients and caregivers the possibility to get paid for their efforts and work inside the network, according the startup’s website.
